A book, currently in development, that delves deeply into songwriting techniques, especially the details of the musical and lyrical techniques used by writers of great classics (as evidenced in comparative research described here), and how these masterful techniques differ from the ones used by contemporary songwriters.

The Song Audition Matrix ("SAM"), which will enable any songwriter to test or "audition" any original song, much like a performance audition, as described here..
When you audition to join a band or try out for a part in a show, your skill as a musician either passes the audition or fails it. With SAM, it's your song that either passes the "song audition" or fails it.
The SongMatrix book will be distributed for free to those who attend the SongMatrix Retreat.

About the Author
Wayne Chase is a musicologist and author of a range of music reference works on Western tonal music.
Educated at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Chase began his career in the music industry in 1980 as a recording engineer, occasional session player, record producer, and technical instructor. Since the 1990s, he has been investigating and writing on measurable indicators of popular song quality.
Chase also researches the identification, measurement, and analysis of emotional meaning in language, especially as it applies to song lyrics. He holds five patents in the field of connotative intelligence.
